Care & Maintenance

GRANITE

  • Daily Cleaning: Use a soft cloth and a mild detergent or a cleaner specifically designed for natural stone. Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners that can damage the sealant.
  • Stain Removal: For oil-based stains, use a poultice made from a mixture of baking soda and water. Apply it to the stain, cover with plastic wrap, and let it sit for 24 hours. For water-based stains, a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and a few drops of ammonia can be effective.
  • Sealing: Granite should be sealed at least once a year to protect it from staining and bacteria. Conduct a simple water test to check if your countertop needs resealing: sprinkle water on the surface and if it beads, the seal is intact; if it soaks in, it’s time to reseal.

Care & Maintenance

Quartz

  • Daily Cleaning: Quartz countertops are non-porous and easy to maintain. Use a soft cloth with mild detergent for routine cleaning. Harsh chemicals should be avoided as they can break down the bonds between the resin and quartz.
  • Stain Removal: For tough stains, a glass cleaner or a non-abrasive cleaner can be used. Apply the cleaner and let it sit for 10 minutes, then wipe it off with a non-abrasive sponge.
  • Precautions: Although quartz is durable and resistant to stains and scratches, it is not completely heatproof. Avoid placing hot pots and pans directly on the surface without a trivet.

Care & Maintenance

Marble

  • Daily Cleaning: Use a soft cloth and a specially formulated natural stone cleaner or mild detergent. Acidic solutions can etch the marble surface, so they should be avoided.
  • Stain Removal: Marble is particularly susceptible to stains, especially from acidic substances. Clean spills immediately to prevent staining. For stubborn stains, a poultice or baking soda paste may be used similarly to granite.
  • Sealing: Marble is more porous than granite and quartz, requiring more frequent sealing—twice a year is recommended. This will help prevent stains and etching from daily use.
  • Softness and Scratch Prevention: Marble is softer than granite and quartz, making it more prone to scratches. Use cutting boards instead of chopping directly on the surface, and avoid dragging pots, pans, or appliances across the countertop. Place felt pads under objects that may scratch the surface to further protect it.
